What can we say about the PHASES of the solutions of d.e. ?

Hello guys!

My question is a common one.

Imagine we are solving an differential equation, for example a Helmholz equation with an eigenvalue problem. We obtain some eigenvalues and some eigenfunctions.

What can we state about the PHASES of the eigenfunctions?

Can we obtain the phase difference between the two solutions and see something about "interference" between this functions?

Or the phase of the eigenfunction of one eigenvalue is not connected with the phase of another one and that is why we can not gain information about their phases?
