In the book, in page 1210 I see the entry
Golden section search 443, 489, 496

However, when I go to those pages, I can't seem to find the information about Golden section search.

Am I missing something?

You're right - these are not the most useful pages for information on golden section search, although the term does appear on each of these pages. We should also have indexed pages 492-496, which do appear under Minimization: golden section search. We'll fix this in a future reprinting.

Is there a 2D search?

Yes, that's the section to read. And no, there is no obvious analog in more than 1 dimension, since the notion of a bracketed minimum doesn't really exist.
