I downloaded the fileopen 'installer' from http://plugin.fileopen.com/plugininstallpage.html and installed it.

When I run Adobe 7 on my Ubuntu 7.10 machine, I get the following error:

Any suggestions about this?

Is the version of FileOpen hosted on your website the same as that from fileopen.com, or have you patched it in some way?

Hello, and sorry you are having problems.

No, we haven't patched the FileOpen plug-in files, although our site sometimes has slightly different builds from FileOpen than the ones on their web site. It is possible that their site has an earlier build with unfixed bugs.

We haven't previously seen the problem that you report with Reader 7. Try downloading the Linux plug-in from our web site here (http://www.nr.com/plugin/linuxapi/FileOpen.api) and see if it works. (Windows users, don't use this version!)

It might also be a firewall problem: If you have a firewall going, have you enabled Acrobat Reader to make outgoing connections on port 443? Does it work on this link (http://http://www.nrbook.com/pluginok.pdf) which uses port 80 instead?
