How to install plugin as non-root user?

I want to install the plugin somehow under Linux as non-root user, simply because I'm not working on a system where I can't become root. So is there a local plugins-dir somewhere in ~/ where acroreader would also look for plugins? (maybe an .acroread-dir for example?)

I found the answer myself:
you have to create a directory plug_ins in your home-directory: very ugly if you ask me - I would rather have it somewhere in eg .adobe/plug_ins - but that's how it has to be.

Jakob, thanks for figuring this out -- it will no doubt help other people. This is of course a property of Adobe Acrobat and unfortunately outside of our control.
