Problems with Linux now fixed (we think)

Keep your fingers crossed, but we think that the problems with Linux are now fixed. There are new installation instructions here (http://www.nr.com/plugin/plugin_install.html#linux). Be sure to use the new plugin version downloaded from there.
You'll need Adobe Reader 7 or later. We've verified seamless operation with the Firefox, Epiphany, and Opera browsers, which can display PDF within the browser window. Konqueror also works, but opens up an external window.
Please post any problems to this thread.

Just downloaded the new plugin, using Acroread 8.1.1 for Linux.
Acroread don't find the plugin, not able to read documents :-(
(However 7.0.9 seems to work.)

Yes, we are working this open issue with the FileOpen folks. For news of any progress, see the thread at

Yes, Adobe or Acrobat Reader 7 works fine, according to our tests and all user reports. At this time, Adobe will still let you download and install version 7.0.9 for Linux. The link is:

There has been some progress with FileOpen on getting Reader 8 to work, but at this time no solution yet ready for release.

The problem with Adobe Reader 8 should now be fixed for most Linux users (there never was a problem for Windows or Mac users). See this thread (http://www.nr.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2694#post2694) for instructions on how to proceed.

Hassled for a long time to get it to work, and then finally I figured that it worked with flock-browser. So there's a Firefox 3 issue for some reason. Thanks anyway for making this work :) (Ubuntu user)
